There was a time in my life when I ate like shit.
What was less surprising was that I also felt like shit.
It took me a long time to understand this:
My daily meal choices were not a small factor behind how I was feeling.
The food I was eating was the one thing that either made my body, mind and experience of life healthy, or damaged it.
Excess sugar. Fast food. Sodas. Grains. Gluten and soy – typical culprits that were finally discovered in tests.
Damage is the only word I can think of for debilitating gut pain and stomach ache. On many days I had a hard time leading a normal life. Eating the wrong foods damaged my gut lining and my whole body was paying the price. We now know that hundreds of millions of people suffer from eating the wrong foods.
Food allergies and sensitivities. Bloating. Gas. Poor digestion. Diarrhea and loose stools. Abdominal pain. Leaky gut. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Irritable bowel diseases (IBD) like Crohn’s disease and other conditions that flare up by eating foods that cause inflammation in the intestine.
