Hi, Emily here and I’ve been working on making our site look fresh and new for the release of version 1.1 and GlycoGenesis. We received very positive feedback on our previous deign when we just started selling, but we wanted the whole site to have a little more colour and really be recognisable. We changed our font from my homemade one purely because my amateur attempt at making a font meant?it lacked certain characters and others just didn’t fit in with the rest of the design. We’ve tried to keep our new one looking slightly similar to before?purely because we want to keep our style very much the same; just a little more cleaner and crisper.
The colours in our logo are?lighter versions of the colours we use to determine our types of products. As great as those colours are, placed close together they are too bright, just contrast each other and really take the spotlight from our name. Lightening the colours no longer makes this a problem and creates a simple yet very affective combination.
I’m in no way a professional designer and my only qualifications in the design area are?AS level Art at grade C, and an A in GCSE photography. This redesign was rather challenging and took a few attempts to really get the logo feeling right. We have saved some of the failed ideas for the future if we ever want to redesign; if we ever were to change the site again’then I would like to contact you and have some consumer input; after all, it’s important as our customers that you actually like any changes we make.
I hope you like the new design (almost) as much as our actual product!
