"By far the best meal replacement I could find"
October 22, 2020 @ 17:38

This product is one of its kind. It offers the best nutritional quality I could find, yet with quite a pleasant taste (one I would describe as neutral / nutty with a hint of chockolate and cinnamon) and all that at affordable price. It doesn’t contain artificial sweeteners, maltodextrin, or vegetable oils like the other products – all the ingredents come directly from plant sources with minimal processing. They offer creating (configuring) your own nutritional profile of the product depending on your activity levels, current weight and goals. The product comes in meal-sized packages, eliminating the need to measure out individual portions, which is super convenient and eliminates the possibility of binging / overeating on the stuff. I absolutely love Anapur!

"Quite inexpensive"
November 28, 2016 @ 18:06

This was another *lent during my search for alternatives in Europe.

Based in the Czech Republic, it took me quite some time to get this shipped to Germany. Main issue was to send the money via bank transfer – it took three tries to finally get things right. However, people behind AnaPur have been incredibly helpful with this – customer support was a very pleasant experience here.

The product itself is very interesting because it only contains natural ingredients – at least as natural as it gets with powders. Carbohydrates, Protein and Fats mostly come from soy flour and protein as well as oats and nuts. While the soy part is still controversially discussed, it did not prevent me from giving this a try.

Vitamins and minerals as well as fibre comes from a blend of some well-known (e.g. green tea, psyllium) and lesser-known (e.g. camu camu, lucuma) natural powders. Not sure what bio-availability this provides but this can be described as truly natural.

AnaPur comes in bags with 500g powder which equals about 5 servings with 400kcal (100g). The bags look quite ‘natural’, too (paper bags with coated inside, sticker with ingredients and directions on it). They are, however, resealable. Also, the delivery included a really nice, quality shaker in green with the AnaPur logo on it.

Preparing this is somewhat tricky. If you just use a shaker, it takes quite some time and some heavy shaking to get the powder to dissolve – the trivia is that you have to hurry because the mixture becomes thick rather quickly. I had the best experience when using a blender.

When prepared, AnaPur has a very thick texture and a very dominant sesame flavor. This is neither pleasant nor especially unpleasant. It’s somewhere between both worlds – you can drink it but you don’t especially enjoy it. Just don’t leave it standing for too long as it will become jelly-like. I’ve tried adding in fruits like bananas or some cocoa powder but it is not quite possible to overcome the sesame flavor.

Apart from this, AnaPur provides for a quite filling meal – this is probably partly because of the fiber as a serving only has around 400kcal. But it seems enough for skipping a meal.

Only downside was that the expiration date was just a few months away. If I understand this correctly, this is because of the high nut content as these tend to oxidize at some point.

All in all, I’d recommend trying this if you look for a natural alternative and are able to tolerate the corresponding taste.
