"disappointed"

I had high hopes for this idea but it left me disappointed. Spices and seeds are very easily separated. There is no clear indication how much spice is too much, so you might be getting too little or too much each time you flip the bag upside-down as recommended. The recommended 5 minute wait time after adding the boiling water is too little (grains are still very hard) so 10 minutes is probably better. I tried several different combinations and ratios but none worked for me. Tomato & herb lacks in flavor, it’s like a watery tomato sauce with a powdery texture and mushy green pieces. The Thai green curry is just really spicy with little flavor. I’m missing some of those textures that you get in a real thai curry, right now it’s all just kinda mushy. Huel being the business-type company it’s also quite pricey which just adds insult to injury.

"Game changer"

I have quite a lot of Huel’s shakes but the beigeness can grate a bit eeeeevery meal is a shake so the chance to have some proper food for a meal for a change, and it being nutritionally complete, well I’m all over that!

I got a couple bags on the launch day and got stuck in the moment they arrived via the ever tortuous experience of DPD, but I digress. Mixing is quick and if you’ve ever made a pot noodle you’ll be right at home here as you figure out how much water to add for a just right consistency.

Unlike mainline Huel this has a very pronounced smell and very present flavours. Personally I think tomato and herb is a bit meh but the Thai Green Curry is outstanding and I’m happily eating it every day.

There does seem to be a bit of a knack to getting the various bits all mixed up with each other and the flavour seems to settle below the grains, but it’s easy enough once you remember to do it. Mixing rather than shaking is the way to go.
