Shortly after he found the perfect formula he started Joylent. Everybody wanted to try it and shortly after that he had to move his business to a proper warehouse. Joey teamed up Sam Rohn, a young ambitious entrepeneur with a firm belief in the idea of modern food. Pretty soon they had a bunch of their friends working for them, building what is Joylent today: A kickass brand that provides in health, space and time, so you can focus on fun stuff.

"not bad but could be improved"
September 18, 2018 @ 12:59

I tried both the vanilla and chocolate twenny bars. They were not bad but I found they quite difficult to eat and after a while I got really bored of the taste. One of the positives is that they did fill me up for a substantial period of time.

"Good stuff"

Surprisingly good.
It has a very cake-ish (?) texture which I like, although it does feel a bit grainy. Took me a pack to get used to it, but now I have it almost very day as a snack between my morning saturo and lunch (just lunch, not complete food).

The main advantage these have over RTDs is that I can board a plane with them, so I have something to eat on low-cost flights that don’t provide food.

As with all RTD/RTE complete foods, I’d love if it was a tad cheaper, but I know this will come with scale.

Overall, I recommend it.

"Filling and tasty"

These are surprisingly filling and have a great texture. Not too chewy and more like a soft granola bar. The flavor of Jimmy Joy products is much more suited to bars like these.

"No buy. Get Plenny Shake and make your own, way better that way."

I far prefer DIY-bars to Twennybars. The texture is just kinda crap, the flavors are FAR more muted in the bars, and it’s a lot bulkier with the whole oats hanging out doing nothing.

Not that impressed with either taste or texture, tried chocolate, vanilla and banana.

"Super convenient."
December 18, 2016 @ 02:20

I have finally received my order of Twennybars. So I immediately dived into a Twennybar day. I decided to start with a box of the Chocolate. I have thirty of both Chocolate and Banana flavors. After having seen some people’s comments regarding the bars I was honestly a little surprised.

The bars aren’t too big or chewy. I definitely appreciate having a drink while eating one but the mouthfeel is a little hard to describe. They have a bit of chew to them but not nearly on the level of fudge. The texture provided by the crisps in the bar is sort of muted. I don’t really get any sort of crunch just a different sort of resistance to the bite itself.

As this is day one I don’t have much to say regarding energy levels or the gastrointestinal side effects reported by some. So far smooth sailing and pretty tasty.

"Very handy"
December 4, 2016 @ 23:43

Twennybars have honestly changed my life for the better. It’s super convenient having 400 calories handy and I keep a couple in my backpack all the time. If I feel like snacking or reaching for crisps I grab one of these to keep me going, and keep me going they do. Gotta say it’s way better to what I’d snack on otherwise.

"Replaced all my snacking (there was a lot of it)"
November 19, 2016 @ 19:32

I’ve been ordering these off and on since they first launched and have got to say that I love them.Honestly; if I don’t keep an eye on myself I’ll easily eat three or four of these in a day.

I tend to use them more as snack replacements because they’re just not filling enough for me to replace a full meal, but then I have tried to stick to the usual three meal times a day even with ‘lents so my body’s still expecting lots of calories each feed and whilst a bar will keep me going for a bit, I get really hungry if I’ve swapped it for a meal or a shake. Still, keeps me away from crisps.

The bars themselves are pretty big, way bigger than the usual flapjack bars that I guess they’re based on. Consistency is similar to flapjacks, a bit drier perhaps, and the taste is a lot subtler than I expected with just a little bit less sweetness than I’d have liked, but still…. very eatable. I don’t tend to eat them all at once though, they’re not morish enough for that and I’m happy grazing on them throughout the day. A bit more flavour would probably make me wolf it down, but I think they’d get old fast if they were too intense, same with the powders I guess.

Of the two flavours I’m enjoying the chocolate one more. It’s still subtle but there’s just a touch more to it than the banana and I don’t know, maybe the mental aspect of knowing it’s chocolate makes me want it more, ha.
